Apple iPhone users who are fond of jailbreaking their devices might be in for some bad news, as the tech giant's latest mobile OS update, iOS 9.3.5, effectively rendered the iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak useless. Unfortunately, there might not be a fix for jailbroken devices for a pretty long time.

Pangu to Not Release iOS 9.3.5 Jailbreak Tool

Chinese hacking team Pangu, which is behind the jailbreak updates to iOS, is allegedly hard at work at creating a jailbreak tool for Apple's upcoming mobile operating system, the yet-to-be-released iOS 10. iOS 10 had not yet been released to the market, but it certain that it would be the operating system of choice for Apple's upcoming flagship devices, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Thus, just like iOS 10 is the top priority for the tech giant, the upcoming mobile operating system is also the top priority for the Chinese hacking group. With this said, it is highly unlikely that Pangu would even bother to release an iOS 9.3.5 jailbreak tool. Instead, the group would most likely just focus its energy and resources towards making a great jailbreak tool for iOS 10.

What Can iOS 9.3.3. Jailbreak Users Do?

Considering that Apple's updates are permanent, there is actually very little that users of Pangu's iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak tool can do. However, if users have not initiated an update as of yet, keeping iPhones running iOS 9.3.3 or iOS 9.3.4 would effectively keep the jailbreak in the device working. Of course, doing so would make the device vulnerable to security risks such as the notorious Pegasus spyware, but refusing the iOS 9.3.5 update would at least keep the Pangu's jailbreak tool functioning.

If users have already updated their devices to iOS 9.3.5, then there is a very big chance that they might be in for a very long wait for the release of another working jailbreak tool. Thus, for the next few weeks, at least, jailbreakers with iOS 9.3.5 would have to contend with a vanilla Apple device.

iOS 10 is rumored to be released at the same time as the release of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. With Apple rumored to be releasing its latest flagship devices sometime this coming September, the wait for iOS 10's jailbreak tool from Pangu might not be too long, after all.
