A lot of smartphone manufacturers are doubling its effort in rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware to its handsets. Motorola has been of them; as a matter of fact, the company has released the Android Nougat Kernel Source Code for its Moto G4 and G4 Plus handsets.

According to Android Police, Motorola is now in progress pushing Android 7.0 Nougat to the Moto G4 and G4 Plus in some markets. But then it was also noted that not everyone has obtained the firmware yet. The over-the-air software upgrades are nice, but developers also want to have access to the open source code for system updates. In any case, the one that is already accessible to everyone now in the form of a kernel source download.

The Android 7.0 Nougat source code is obtainable on Motorola's GitHub page. The archives are comprised of the code for Moto G4 and G4 Plus, which are almost alike except for the camera and fingerprint sensor.

Furthermore, Android Headlines reported that Motorola, which is now owned by Lenovo, has had great achievement with their Moto G lineup. It can be remembered that in 2016 the company expanded the lineup to contain three devices; the Moto G4 Play, Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4. All of these handsets have somewhat diverse specs and hit different price points.

The Moto G4 Play basically has a smaller display and a lower-end processor, but the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus are almost similar, except for the RAM, storage and fingerprint sensor that can be found on Moto G4 Plus. These smartphones really got the interest of the consumers as Motorola unveiled these devices in the middle of 2016.

As the Android 7.0 Nougat Kernel Source Code has been released, it seems that the firmware will hit the Moto G4 and G4 Plus devices really soon. With this, it is advised for the owners of these smartphones to keep an eye for further details.
