Lindsay Lohan apparently wants to play Ariel in Disney live action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Lohan posted a photo on Instagram Sunday showing off her red locks alongside a similar-looking photo of Ariel from The Little Mermaid, with a very interesting caption.

"I will sing again, as #ariel #thelittlemermaid," Lohan wrote. "@disney approve that #billcondon directs it along with my sister @alianamusic singing the theme song for the soundtrack. also @kgrahamsfb plays Ursula. Simply because, she is the best. take one. @disneystudios."

However, the caption has been edited and now just says, "#thelittlemermaid". The comments section is very polarized about Lohan potentially playing Ariel, with some saying it's perfect for her and others claiming she is too old to play a teenager.

There hasn't been much revealed about The Little Mermaid remake outside of a few key players. Hamilton multi-hyphenate Lin-Manuel Miranda has reportedly been tapped pen new music for the film alongside Alan Menken, who co-wrote the score for the 1989 Disney classic.

Miranda wrote the score for Disney's Moana which earned him an Oscar nomination for the song "How Far I'll Go" and he has won multiple Tonys for both Hamilton and In the Heights.

Miranda has been open about his love for The Little Mermaid, especially during the Moana press tour.

"I must've seen that thing three times in the theaters ... I remember calling in sick from school on the day it came out on VHS - so that I could be the first to get it," Miranda said on Good Morning America.
