General Mobile GM 6 Release Date: New Android One Smartphone to Launch at MWC 2017 [Video]

General Mobile has recently confirmed an event on February 28, where the company is going to unveil its next Android One smartphone dubbed as General Mobile GM 6. The U.S. based smartphone brand has started sending media invites for an event on the side-lines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 trade show in Barcelona next week.

The official invite by General Mobile clearly confirms that the GM 6 Android One smartphone will be unveiled at the event. General Mobile GM 6 will be officially on the display at MWC 2017 on Tuesday, February 28 at 14:00 (Istanbul Time Zone).

The official invite also says that, during the presentation, Jon Gold, Director of Android Partner Programs from Google, Finbarr Moynihan, MediaTek General Manager, Sebahattin Yaman and General Mobile General Manager Muzaffer Gölcü will speak, According to Turkish website Tamir,

This won't be the first MWC event for General Mobile as the company had previously unveiled the GM 5 Plus Android One smartphone last year. It was priced at under $300 and went on sale in over 15 countries last year, NDTV reported.

For those who are unaware, Google in partnership with General Mobile in 2015 had launched Europe's first Android One smartphone. Google's partnership with General Mobile has enabled the Android One initiative to reach different markets.

General Mobile offers its Android One phones in almost several markets including Azerbaijan, Albania, Afghanistan, Belgium, Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus, Georgia, Ghana, Greece, Iraq, Kenya, Luxembourg, Moldova, Netherlands, Pakistan, Serbia, Tunisia, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.

To recall, Google had initially announced its Android One initiative back in June 2014, the platform was supposed to target the emerging markets as well as to ensure a minimum set of standards for smartphones. Google's collaboration with General Mobile yet hinted at a revamped strategy for Android One series.
