Jimmy Kimmel might retire from his late night hosting gig after the next few years.

Kimmel probably won't be doing his late night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, for very much longer. The comedian and host spoke with Variety recently and revealed that after his contract expires in 2019, he might leave late night.

"It's possible that will be it," Kimmel admitted, discussing his contract ending in 2019. "My wife's pregnant. At a certain point, I'd like to have a little more free time. I have very little free time as it is."

Kimmel has been toiling away as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live for the past 14 years, working extensive hours almost every single week. The comedian has a two-year-old daughter, Jane, with wife Molly McNearney. He also has two kids, Kevin and Katherine, from his previous wife, Gina Maddy.

"I think this job is a grind, and best-cast scenario, a marathon," Kimmel admitted. "I want to go out on my own terms. If I ever feel like we're repeating ourselves, I think it's a good indication that it's time."

As for his next endeavor should he decide to leave late night, Kimmel revealed that it might not even be in show business.

"If there's something that excites me creatively, it doesn't necessarily mean something in show business," he said. "I like to draw. I like to make sculptures. I'd like to write a book at some point. Doing the show every day doesn't leave a lot of time for that."

For now, Kimmel is putting on many hats, including hosting the Oscars this Sunday. This will be his first time hosting the biggest Hollywood event of the year, though he's had experience hosting award shows. He has hosted the Primetime Emmy Awards twice and the American Music Awards five times.

The Oscars will air live from coast to coast Sunday, Feb. 26 at 8:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. PT on ABC.
