Glenn Close is honing in on a deal with Marvel Studios to play one of the Nova Corp's superiors in next years Guardians of the Galaxy, reports state.

While no character name has been announced, Deadline reports that the Oscar nominee is in talks to feature in the James Gunn helmed film. Apparently Close would have some connection to the intergalactic police force known as Nova.

Guardians of the Galaxy is part of Marvel's phase two slate of films. Including Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Solider, the sequence of films will wrap up with 2015's The Avengers 2.

Since 2007, Close portrayed Patty Hewes in television's Damages. However, now that the role of Hewes has come to an end, Close is free to shot Guardians when production gets underway in London at the end of June, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The films actors already include Zoe Saldana (Star Trek Into Darkness) as Gamora, Chris Pratt (Parks and Recreation) as Star-Lord, and Lee Pace (The Fall) as The Contoller, according to Moviefone.

With a screenplay put together by James Gunn (Dawn of the Dead), Chris McCoy, and Nicole Perlman with the help of five of the original comic book writers, Guardians of the Galaxy is due to enter theaters Aug. 1, 2014.
