Actress Kate Winslet is expecting her third child, and her first with her husband of five months, Ned Rocknroll.

The actress' representative confirmed the news exclusively to PEOPLE, adding that "Kate and Ned are delighted" by the pregnancy news.

Winslet has two other children from two former relationships: daughter Mia with ex-husband Jim Threapleton, and son Joe with ex-husband Sam Mendes.

The actress had previous expressed a desire to expand her family further.

"I'm hoping to have more kids," Winslet told InStyle's December 2006 issue. "I don't know whether one or two. Oh, God, I would love to have more.

"It's great when the mum can be the person who represents all of those nurturing things for her kids," she continued.

"My mum was certainly that for me."

Winslet has been together with Rocknroll -- born Ned Abel Smith, and a nephew of Virgin Group founder/chairman Richard Branson -- since the fall of 2011, and married in a secret ceremony in December 2012.

The couple met in the midst of a fire at Branson's home on his private Caribbean island, Necker Island. Winslet, her children, and former boyfriend Louis Dowler were visiting the island when a building caught fire during Hurricane Irene; the actress helped save Branson's mother from injury.

The Daily Mail reported in 2011 that after the incident, Winslet and Rocknroll returned from the island together.
