Have Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston made amends?

According to a report earlier this week, Pitt reached out to Aniston after a messy split from estranged wife, Angelina Jolie, and apologized for the affair that ended their marriage in 2005.

"Brad apologized for all the heartbreak," an insider revealed to Life & Style magazine. "He doesn't usually open up like that, but through therapy and recovery, he's learned to express his feelings. He addressed all the hurt he caused her."

Pitt and Jolie's relationship began on the set of the 2005 thriller, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and Aniston filed for divorce months after the filming was finished.

Following their split, Pitt and Jolie wasted no time going public with their romance and one year later, Jolie gave birth to their first biological daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, now 11.

Although their breakup was one of the most highly-publicized divorces at the time, Aniston has moved on from the heartbreak with her husband, Justin Theroux.

Later this summer, the couple will celebrate their two-year wedding anniversary. Meanwhile, Pitt and his estranged wife split just weeks after celebrating their own two-year anniversary in September of last year.

While both Pitt and Aniston are long removed from their breakup, Gossip Cop has shut down the Life & Style magazine report as "fake news." That said, the former couple has reportedly been in touch since his split from Jolie.

"They have been friends for a while and often text," a source told People magazine earlier this year. "This is nothing new, he didn't have to jump through hoops to get Jennifer's number."
