Details about the new Star Wars film were revealed on May 8 by the film's director.

J.J. Abrams, who will be directing Star Wars Episode VII, made an appearance at the Produced By conference and revealed details about the upcoming film. Production is set to start at the beginning of 2014, with Abrams adding, "Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie."

Abrams hinted that he has quite a challenge ahead of him with the franchise having such a large following, but explained his main approach, He said about his directing style, "I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before."

Commenting on the former Star Wars film director George Lucas, and his departure from Lucasfilm, Abrams said: "Lucas has spoken for years about wanting to make those smaller, more experimental films and I hope he does because I'd really like to see them."

Lucas is expected to serve as a consultant for the new film, though the extent of his role in the production is yet unknown. Michael Arndt, Oscar-winning writer of films such as Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3, will be the screenwriter for Star Wars: Episode VII.

There have not been any official cast announcements yet but one actor in particular is dying to have a role in the film: Daniel Radcliffe.  "

The Harry Potter star said on June 6, "I'd love to be part of [a franchise] again. Maybe not leading it: a nice supporting role. Star Wars would be awesome. That'd be crazy cool."

Rumors circulated in March that Harrison Ford would be returning to the franchise as Han Solo, but Disney has not confirmed the reports.

Star Wars Episode VII is expected to be released in theaters in the summer of 2015.
