The NFL has spoken out amid speculation that Jay Z turned down an offer to be the halftime performer for the upcoming Super Bowl.

The organization released a statement via BBC that shuts down rumors that Jay Z received an official offer.

"No decisions have been made on the performer(s) and we are not going to speculate on particular artists,” said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy. “Along with Pepsi, we know that we will put on a spectacular show. When it is time to announce her name we will do it. Or his name. Or their names.”

Jay Z’s alleged decision was said to be in support of NFL star Colin Kaepernick, who has allegedly been blackballed after bringing awareness to social and racial tension in the nation. He has refused to kneel during the national anthem and has yet to be signed to a team for the current football season.

Interesting... You might remember they said the same thing when there were rumors Adele turned down the coveted performance slot as well around this time last year.

"We have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else," it said in a statement. The only difference is, Adele's offer was more than just a rumor. She actually said, "They did ask me (to perform) but I said no."

Either way, it was Lady Gaga who hit the stage for the show last year. Coldplay was the performer for 2016. Jay's wife Beyonce and Bruno Mars joined them.
