2018 is turning to out to be an amazing year for Childish Gambino. From a new season of his hit series, Atlanta to five nominations at the 2018 Grammy Awards, the rapper might just take over the year.

On Monday, Jan. 22, Donald Glover, formerly known as Childish Gambino, announced that he and his Los Angeles-based creative agency Wolf + Rothstein has officially signed a record and label deal with RCA Records.

Fans of the songwriter took to Twitter to respond to the news. The announcement received a positive response because to fans, this means that Gambino will be releasing new music soon.

"I generally live in constant fear that Childish Gambino will never release new music again BUT he just signed to RCA so I can live peacefully for a while," a Twitter user said.

New Record Label, New Music

Peter Edge, the CEO of RCA Records, shared his excitement about signing Gambino calling him one of the most talented entertainers of this era.

"We are excited to join forces with him and Wolf + Rothstein to usher in the next phase of Childish Gambino's musical career," Edge said.

The "Redbone" singer even described the new deal as a "necessary change of pace."

With the rapper's contract with RCA Records, he will part ways with his old label, Glassnote Records. Glover signed with Glassnote back in 2011 and he released three albums and two mixtapes under the label.

While he has seen substantial success with Glassnote, his term with the record label has not been easy.

In 2014, Gambino slammed Glassnote for mishandling a video for his Because the Internet single, "Sweatpants" and allegedly lying to him.

In a tweet, Gambino claimed that the record label told him a lot of things would happen, but they were all lies. He added that he is done and the rapper even asked someone to buy him out of his contract.

Gambino's new record deal with RCA comes after he received five nominations at the 2018 Grammy Awards including, Album of the Year for his 2017 album, Awaken, My Love! and Record of the Year for his breakout single, "Redbone."

Although Gambino has officially signed with RCA, there is no word on when he will release a complete album. Needless to say, fans expect that the rapper will release the new album sometime this year.

For fans who are excited to see more of Gambino,  the rapper will perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday, Jan. 28.
