In a bid to defend his father, Donald Trump Jr. reveals that his dad is not racist because he used to spend time with rappers.

The eldest child of the president of the United States dropped this card during his interview with the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. Trump Jr. claimed that his dad hung out with famous rappers in the biz even before the real estate magnate came into the political battleground.

"I know him. I've seen him my whole life. It's amazing, all the rappers ... all his African-American friends from Jesse Jackson to Al Sharpton ... I have pictures [of my dad] with them," the 40-year-old said.

As it can be remembered, Trump had photographed numerous times with big names including Drop It Like It's Hot singer Snoop Dogg, Ja Rule, and Puff Daddy.

Al Sharpton's Reaction

Al Sharpton, however, was certainly not happy about Trump's son's statements. In an interview with MSNBC's The Beat, he did not mince his words on the president. The activist narrated that Trump had changed into somebody else.

"What he's changed to become is one who has proposed some of the most racist, bigoted policies," Sharpton said.

When asked of his thoughts on the left's efforts to supposedly shame his dad and his followers, Trump Jr. explained that these were appalling and insisted that incorrectly using discrimination as an argument every time would be unfair to those affected by it.

"The real problem is those things exist, certainly racism exists, but if it's your response to any argument you can't win, you actually do a real disservice to those people actually afflicted by it, by those people who are actually oppressed and hurt by real racism and real sexism," Trump Jr. said.

'Racist' Statement

This was in line with several issues surrounding his father regarding racism. The president has come under fire for his remarks that were considered as racist.

The United Nations slammed Trump after calling some African countries as "sh--hole." The statement of the organization was echoed by the African Union, explaining that Trump's comment was "clearly racist."

The Vatican had also released a statement regarding this, though it described Trump's remarks as "offensive."

Apart from this, the president also earned the ire of people after calling some Mexicans "rapists." Trump Jr. went on to explain that people had just started scrutinizing his father when he entered politics.
