After allegedly fighting for fair salary with AMC, Lauren Cohan, known for being Maggie in The Walking Dead, has landed a lead role for ABC's Whiskey Cavalier.

The news came after reports surfaced that Cohan had been battling AMC for her season nine salary for The Walking Dead. She joined the postapocalyptic series in its second season, and was paired opposite fan-favorite Glenn, played by Steven Yeun.

According to The Hollywood Reporter sources, The Walking Dead has been signed for season 9, but Cohan's team was not happy about AMC's offer, leaving her still emptyhanded. She was not expecting to level her salary with male cast Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) and Norman Reedus (Darryl Dixon), though it was noted that the negotiations between her and the studio had remained blurry.

With this in mind, it was revealed that her agents are looking into booking her for other projects, especially that she had gotten popular and in-demand. Now, many might be asking what would happen to Cohan's character in The Walking Dead.

Not A Surprise?

Whether she would be chopped off the show, read: be bitten by a walker or mercilessly hit by a bullet among many others, would be based on further negotiations. That is, if talks would still be in order. However, if Cohan would not be signed for the ninth season of The Walking Dead, fans probably would not be shocked anymore.

The Walking Dead, which is based on Robert Kirkman's comics of the same title, had been known to, from time to time, depart from its source material. It was also notorious for killing off fan favorites, including Glenn and Abraham in its season 7 premiere.

So technically, everyone in The Walking Dead is critical of dying, including Cohan, whose character is currently alive and well. Now, many are asking how this would play out for her character. There are many possibilities, especially now that execs had kept their mouths zipped.

Cohan could leave the series after wrapping up season 8, or she would be given an irresistible offer and still be Maggie for season 9, or she could take the Whiskey Cavalier role and still make appearances on The Walking Dead. Fans could only speculate so much from this, until official announcements are made. Until then, Maggie's fate remains unknown.

If her new project will continue, Cohan will play a tough CIA agent, Frankie Trowbridge, opposite Scott Foley's Will Chase. Whiskey Cavalier is an action, comedy pilot directed by Peter Atencio.
