Vin Diesel posted on his Facebook page that Marvel requested a meeting with him, Variety reported Wednesday.

The Fast and Furious actor posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"Marvel has requested a meeting... no idea what for... haha, you probably know better than me...," he wrote.

According to Variety, it is not clear what the meeting is about and there is speculation as to whether or not Diesel might be up for the role of Thanos in the Joss Whedon-directed film The Avengers 2. Casting for the film is reportedly currently taking place.

Diesel apparently posted an image of the character, Vision, on Facebook last year, indicating that he wanted to be cast in that role in the upcoming Avengers 2.

Already confirmed as an Avengers 2 cast member is Robert Downey, Jr. (Ironman). Rumored to be cast members but not confirmed are Scarlett Johansson (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Jeremy Renner (Mission: Impossible 5), Chris Hemsworth (Thor: The Dark World), Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla).

Marvel has other projects in the works through 2017 and Diesel may be up for consideration in any of the upcoming Marvel films.

When actor Frank Grillo posted on Facebook that he was doing a screen test for the role of Crossbones in Captain America: Winter Soldier, Marvel requested that he remove the post. It is possible that Marvel will also request that Diesel remove his post about the meeting.

Diesel's career launched after he was cast in Steven Spielberg's film Saving Private Ryan in 1998. He was cast in his first lead role as Richard B. Riddick in Pitch Black in 2000 and his career took off.

The actor can currently be seen on the big screen in Fast and Furious 6, which opened in theaters on May 24.

The next installment in the franchise, Fast and Furious 7, is scheduled for release in the U.S. on July 11, 2014.
