The 75-page contract John Cena made Nikki Bella sign became a trending topic a day after it was given light anew. However, it was just to protect himself, as per a source.

Apparently, the 40-year-old Blockers actor just did it as a precautionary measure. After all, Cena came from a not-so-well-off family and just wanted to make sure "he's protected."

"[H]e was making sure she's not a gold digger. He's a top guy in WWE, which means she immediately gets a push and a great storyline and TV time," the source said.

Contract

To give context on this, the WWE star had his ex-girlfriend sign a 75-page cohabitation contract in 2013 before she moved in with him. The deal was that once things didn't work out between them, the YouTuber would leave his house.

However, this was not hidden from the public at all. In one episode of the first season of their reality show Total Bellas, Bella confided with her twin sister, Brie, her confusion over the said contract, saying it made her question where their relationship was.

"It kind of makes me second-guess where John and I stand in our relationship. I love John, but maybe he knows that he doesn't want to be with me forever?" Bella said.

Furthermore, what had become a red alert for the former Total Divas star was that Cena referred to her as "guest," which is totally the most unromantic way of calling your loved one.

"In the event that I ask you to vacate the home, you agree to immediately vacate the home and remove any and all items you have brought into the home as soon as possible," a portion of the contract read.

Private Life

However, the source who claimed that Cena just wanted to protect himself also said that the WWE Champion did not want to be in the reality show as he wanted to have a private life.

The contract became a hot topic again after Cena and Bella decided to call it quits weeks before tying the knot. In a sudden turn of events, the couple shared through social media their decision, much to the surprise of their fans.

As of writing, the reason for their breakup is still unknown. However, a heavily reported reason for this is Cena's not wanting to have children. In 2014, The Marine star asked Bella if getting married will be enough, to which the woman said she wanted to become a mother.
