Retired NBA star Charles Barkley has been known for his poor choice of words, but this time, he went over the line.

The former Phoenix Suns superstar has always been known as an outspoken player, but his rude comment of wanting to hit a reporter -- even though it is meant as a joke -- did not sit well with the people who witnessed it.

The NBA commentator made the said comments during a heated debate with Alexi McCammond, an Axios reporter.

Charles Barkley: The Basketball Player

Charles Barkley has a stunning record as an NBA superstar. He played for the Philadelphia 76ers for eight seasons to begin his career before he was traded to the Suns.

The Round Mound of Rebound spent five years in Phoenix before he suit for the Houston Rockets in the twilighht of his career. He retired as a one-time NBA MVP and an 11-time All-Star.

In 2006, Barkley was recognized for his amazing contributions to the game and was inducted in the Naismith Hall of Fame.

Now, Barkley is making a different name for himself as a basketball analyst of TNT. He has been known for his sometimes outrageous comments and predicitions since he took on the role.

Charles Barkley, a Threat to Women?

Alexi McCammond and Charles Barkley had a disagreement over the presidential candidate they thought were best for the position. However, Alexi cried foul when Charles came back at her with an unacceptable and rude comment.

Alexi shared in her Twitter account that Barkley told her that he does not hit women, but if he did, he would hit Alexa McCammond. When she reacted to what he said, he simply replied, "You couldn't take a joke."

McCammond clarified that she never spoke of "off the record" commentaries, but she is breaking the rule for this one. She strongly feels that the comment was simply unacceptable and believes that threats of violence, especially to women, should not be made as a joke.

What could be the reason for this rhetoric? The NBA Hall of Famer came into the room talking about how much he loves Deval Patrick, but when a person from Pete Buttigieg's campaign came, he changed his position all of a sudden.

McCammon revealed that she was the one who pointed to Barkley that he previously said he was a Deval fan.

Chuck has issued an official apology on Wednesday, admitting that his comments were unacceptable and inappropriate. He claimed that they were an attempt to be a joke, but there was no excuse for it.

Unless he is up to change himself, his comments and attitude towards women will always be seen as a threat to a woman's security.
