Aaron Taylor-Johnson is slowly inching closer to a role in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

In early June, Enstars reported that Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass 2) appeared to be a front-runner to play Quicksilver in the upcoming Marvel film. Now Taylor-Johnson has admitted that he has already talked to both Writer/director Joss Whedon and Marvel regarding the potential role.

"I feel really flattered and honored that they came to me for that role.  I think he's an interesting character and we're just gonna keep going into that," Taylor-Johnson said, according to Collider https://collider.com/avengers-2-aaron-taylor-johnson-godzilla-interview/ .  "I sat down with Joss, I think he's awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they're also great; I think it'd be interesting."

Quicksilver and his sister Scarlet Witch are the children of the X-Men's Magneto. However, they are also part of the Avengers cohort and Whedon has brought the sibling duo into the fold for Age of Ultron. The Marvel film is not allowed to mention the young superheroes' mutant lineage in the film since that aspect will be addressed by Evan Peters appearance as Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

If he lands the role, Taylor-Johnson is more excited to delve into the emotional background of Quicksilver rather than just his heightened abilities.

"I think when it comes around and you're asking about 'Avengers 2′ and Quicksilver and things like that, the thing is to think about that he's an abandoned child," Taylor-Johnson told MTV https://splashpage.mtv.com/2013/07/29/avengers-age-of-ultron-aaron-taylor-johnson-quicksilver/  . "Him and his sister [Scarlet Witch] are abandoned and they live in Eastern Europe. There's more character aspects that I'm interested in than the power aspect."

While the race for the job of Quicksilver seems to be reaching an end, the search https://www.enstarz.com/articles/21731/20130717/avengers-2-movie-news-saoirse-ronan-will-appear-scarlet-witch.htm  for the Scarlet Witch has yet to disclose a front-runner.
