Brittany Murphy's death has been brought back to the spotlight by Britney Spears.

Murphy's mysterious death stirred Spears' curiosity that the "Toxic" singer admitted feeling curious about the tragedy years after it happened.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, the 40-year-old pop star shared the October PEOPLE cover story that revisited the death of Murphy. According to Spears, there is something suspicious about the late actress' passing.

"I saw this online today .... is anybody else curious ??? She died at 32 ... HMMMMMMMMMMM ... JUST SAYING !!!! Psss I know it was a while ago but come on ...they are STILL INVESTIGATING !!!!" she wrote in the caption.

The recent HBO Max documentary, "What Happened, Brittany Murphy?" seemingly contributed to Spears' curiosity as it revealed chilling new details about her death.

What Happened to Brittany Murphy?

Spears did not mention what connection she was exactly referring to, but it is worth noting that the actress died inside the Hollywood Hills home she bought from the singer for $3.85 million. Both Spears and Murphy publicly spoke that something was strange about the house when they lived there.

The "Womanizer" hitmaker, who was dating Justin Timberlake when she lived in the house, claimed she had a creepy encounter that led her to leave home and never come back. Meanwhile, her former makeup artist, Julianne Kaye, revealed in an episode of Earios' "We Need to Talk About Britney" podcast in February 2021 that his friend opened some "spirit portal" when he did reiki healing on the singer.

"It was so bad that she left. She went to the Casa Del Mar hotel to stay there and never went back to the house. She goes, 'I know you're gonna think I'm crazy. I'm not crazy. I know what I saw. I know what I felt,'" Kaye went on.

On Dec. 20, 2009, the Los Angeles Fire Department received a call from Murphy's home, learning that she collapsed in the bathroom. The responders were still able to rush her to Cedars- Sinai Medical Center, but the actress went into cardiac arrest and died.

She was declared dead at 32, and the Los Angeles Coroner's office revealed Brittany Murphy's death was an accident caused by pneumonia, iron deficiency, and multiple drug intoxication (legal).

A few weeks after Murphy's death, her husband told The Hollywood Reporter that his late wife tried to avoid home as much as possible. He recalled how the actress would always suggest staying at the Beverly Hotel instead of driving to the Rising Glen house.

Monjack also told reporters that Murphy thought the property was unlucky that she planned on moving out to New York.

Months after Monjack appeared in the interview, Murphy's mother found him unresponsive in the same home. Like the actress, he reportedly died due to pneumonia and severe anemia.
