Camila Cabello Reveals REAL Reason Why She Broke Up With Shawn Mendes

Camila Cabello disclosed the real reason that led to her breakup from Shawn Mendes.

Months after Cabello's split from Mendes, she sat for a new candid interview where she spoke about the split for the first time.

Cabello did not go directly to the point when she talked to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1's "New Music Daily," but she did mention why they took the step as they grow older.

According to the "Havana" hitmaker, her change in priorities as she continues her career in her 20s played a role in their breakup. Cabello explained that she had been focusing on becoming a well-rounded person while dating Mendes.

Although she wants to focus on her career, she reportedly could not do it at all.

"This album literally was a tool of me becoming a more well-rounded person and acquiring intimacy with my collaborators. That was my number one intention, was not even, how do I make the best album and the best music?" she said, as quoted by TooFab.

The young singer said she intended to make music with people she wanted to have dinner with afterward. She also noted the struggles she faced as she tried building her trust with people while validating her own experience.

Unfortunately, her album-making process was like the time she spent with her former beau.

Camila Cabello Lost Focus on Shawn Mendes

While trying to focus on living a happy life while being a healthy person in a healthy relationship, she reportedly lost her focus as she did a lot of therapy.

"I think as I get older, yeah, the priorities shift. And I feel like that was that way for both of us. Because we both started so young too, we're really learning how to be healthy adults. And that sometimes means not having your number one focus be your career. And that's okay," she went on.

Although she suffered from pain and sadness following her heartbreak, she reportedly received helpful advice from her mother.

Per Cabello, her mother told her she would be devastated again next time a similar heartbreak happens to her again. Despite all that, the matriarch left her with a heartfelt message. "Asi es la vida," which means "That's just the way life is."

Cabello and Mendes shared a shocking joint statement onto their respective Instagram accounts last year, telling their fans they decided to end their romantic relationship but assured them they still love each other.
