Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox may be enjoying the company of their newly-adopted pet, but not everyone is happy with their decision as PETA released a statement as well as plastering posters all over California calling out the couple for their actions.

According to Billboard, the newly-engaged couple introduced their cat named Whiskey. MGK took to his Instagram to share a series of photos of his Bengal kitten, writing, "welcome Whiskey to the gang XX."

Following this, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals or PETA launched a campaign against the couple, which involves their organization to plaster posters around West Hollywood.

The poster shows a picture of a cat inside a cage with the text that reads, "Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly: Why do you hate me?"

PETA published a press release on their website written by celebrity relations manager Matt Kilbourne.

He first congratulated the couple for their engagement before blasting them for purchasing a purebred luxury cat instead of considering "homeless cats, who number in the tens of thousands at animal shelters in L.A."

Kilbourne then proceeded to ask the couple for their cat to be neutered and give him a "friend" from one of Los Angeles' shelters so they could help the overpopulation of felines across the city.

The Overpopulation of Cats in the United States

Per the organization, there are over 15,850 cats that entered shelters in L.A. last year, and more than half of the population were kittens.

In the United States, over 70 million cats and dogs remain unadopted, and only 10% of them end up in shelters.

At the time of this writing, neither Machine Gun Kelly nor Megan Fox has publicly responded to the controversy.

Machine Gun Kelly On Whiskey

Appearing in a recent episode of "Ellen DeGeneres Show," MGK gave fans an insight into his newly-adopted pet.

The singer noted he didn't know that the 12-week-old kitten was wild, so the cat has been ruining his furniture and peeing in his mattresses since he adopted him.

In addition, the former rapper shared a story about Whiskey climbing up to him before biting his ears because of his dangling earrings.
