Kim Kardashian finally addressed the controversy surrounding her "get your f-king ass up and work" comment.

She said it taken out of context, but since she explained too late - the comment already went viral and caused a lot of trouble for the reality star. It was even sarcastically brought up at the Oscars.

"Well, that statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it. It became a sound bite, really with no context," Kardashian, 41, told "Good Morning America" co-anchor Robin Roberts on Friday.

The reality star explained that it was a response to a notion that she only achieved what she has today by riding out her fame. She said she has been in the business for two decades already and yet people still think she's "being famous for being famous." She wanted to correct the notion that many women have of her, so she said they all have to put in the work she did to get where she is now.

"It wasn't a blanket statement towards women or to feel like I don't respect the work or think that they don't work hard," she clarified. "I know that they do. It was taken out of context, but I'm really sorry if it was received that way."

The creator of Skims said that she was attempting to communicate the idea that launching a great profession takes more than simply appearing on a reality program and that it also requires "hard work."

"My whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about what advice would you give to women," Kardashian said.  She said her advice would be to actually work, instead of just having a social media presence, like many misconstrued her to have.

Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian, as well as their mother Kris Jenner, were in the audience when Kim made the remarks during a Variety interview in February.

The KKW Beauty Founder's statements sparked a reaction, with many accusing her of being inconsiderate to working women.

During Sunday's Oscars event, hostesses Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes parodied Kim Kardashian's controversial remark that "nobody wants to work these days."

After Ariana DeBose won the Best Supporting Actress Award, the presenters provided counsel to Judi Dench, who had just lost the award to Kim. Comedian Wanda added, ''You know because you didn't win tonight." Regina then continued. "A quote from Kim Kardashian... work harder."
