The Crown may be looking at a prequel series.

The sensational series which follows the monarchy of Queen Elizabeth quickly became a widely acclaimed mega-hit. The second to last season is set to premiere this year, which is getting viewers ready to mourn the loss of their favorite show. As obsessive fans of any series are want to do, followers of The Crown are constantly hungry for more. According to an article on Deadline, they may be about to get it. Netflix and The Crown producer Left Bank have begun conversations about developing a prequel to the royal series.

This conversation is in incredibly early stages, but the prospects of a deeper look into the lives of these monarchs is already exciting viewers everywehre. The project is nowhere near production or even greenlight stages. However, the speculation surrounding the show suggests that a new series would chronicle times either pre-World War Two or the late Victorian Era. In terms of planning for a lasting series, it would make sense if the prequel series were to follow the reign of Queen Victoria. Piror to Queen Elizabeth's recent surpassing of the record, Queen Victoria was previously the longest serving monarch ever in the UK.
