Is Jared Padalecki okay after getting involved in a terrible car accident?

"Supernatural" fans were surprised after learning about Padalecki's absence during the series' panel over the weekend. It turned out that the actor was involved in a near-fatal crash.

His co-star, Jensen Ackles, delivered the tragic news to the audience, revealing what led to the actor's absence.

According to Ackles, Padalecki is currently recovering after the crash. His co-star was not reportedly driving at the time of the crash. There were also no reported fatalities after the accident.

He also assured that he directly checked Padalecki's well-being through a phone call before the NJCon.

"I don't know if you guys know what's going on. He was in a very bad car accident. He wasn't driving, he was in the passenger seat, and he's lucky to be alive. And not only that, but he's at home recovering which - the fact that he's not in a hospital right now is blowing my mind because I saw the car," he detailed, as quoted by Variety.

Ackles, however, noted that the car accident left Padalecki feeling like he had a 12-round battle against Mike Tyson. The car's airbag also "punched" the actor in the passenger seat.

Despite the worrying news, he took his time to ask the attendees to keep his co-star in their thoughts and prayers.

Jared Padalecki Faced Ups and Downs Through the Years

Aside from his recent car accident, Padalecki also went through several ups and downs in his life.

He started his career in The CW's "Supernatural in 2005. Despite his fame, he started suffering from depression and shocked everyone with the diagnosis.

"I, in the past, have had my own struggles of not [being] so happy with where I am in life. Maybe a lot of people don't know this, but season 3, we were shooting an episode, and I went back to my trailer to get changed and just kind of broke down," he told Variety, as quoted by Yahoo.

The actor added that a doctor eventually diagnosed him with depression clinically.

With that, he launched the online campaign, Always Keep Fighting. It supports the nonprofit, To Write Love On Her Arms, an organization that helps people struggling with depression, suicide, and addiction, among others.

Padalecki also had a near-death experience when he flipped his car in 2004.
