The family of Kailia Posey has revealed the cause of her death. The young beauty queen committed suicide, family members disclosed in a devastating statement made following her death.

Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life," Kailia's family told TMZ. 

While all deaths are tragic, something hits hard when people as young as Kailia succumbed to suicide. She was just 16 years old at the time of her death.

Marcy Posey Gatterman, her mother, announced her death on Facebook one day earlier on May 2.

"I don't have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone. Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever," she captioned a photo of the Toddlers & Tiaras beauty wearing a silver formal gown while smiling. 

Foul Play Involved? Why and How Did She Commit Suicide?

Earlier, it was reported that the young star could have been "involved in some sort of incident in Washington." It remains unclear what these are and if they could have caused her to take her own life. 

Marcy has subsequently updated her profile picture to a stunning image of her daughter dressed in a white lace gown with white angel wings and a halo added via photoshop. Her cover image is a similar image of Kailia dressed in a white gown and wearing an eye-catching pageant crown, with the words "Fly High, Kailia" overlay.

Kailia was a little 5-year-old when she made her television debut in 2012 on TLC's iconic series Toddlers & Tiaras. "At the California Tropic Arizona pageant, perfectionist Danielle, 10, and rivals Kayla, 4, and Kailia, 5, put everything on the line," the episode's IMDB description states. It appears as though this was the turning point for little Kailia, as she continued to compete in pageants - her most recent mention was on April 25, 2021, through Instagram. 

"Had a blast at UDQ [Ultimate Dream Queen]," Kailia captioned a photo of herself in Las Vegas, next to an oversized check and a massive pageant crown. "Love all my friends and family who came to cheer me on!"

Additionally, Kailia was a skilled contortionis. People who know of her because of her cute meme cannot help but sympathize. Some even said she was able to inspire them while still alive.
