Warner Bros. has an Ezra Miller problem.

After a string of bad decisions made by the actor while staying in Hawaii, Miller has been arrested on several occasions, leaving the studio to consider replacing him in their very delayed - but completed - The Flash. Though it might not be as easy or cost-effective to do so.

Considered one of the more endearing characters to come out of Zack Snyder's DCEU, The Flash could mean big money at the box office for Warner Bros., but between Miller's run-ins with the law and mounting mental health concerns, audiences could find it difficult to sit through one of the  films and separate the actor from the role.

But with $200 million dollars on the line, simply dropping the film on HBO Max and calling it a day is far from an option.

Another idea was to recast the role and reshoot parts Miller appeared in - even taking into consideration using Grant Gustin, who plays the character on the popular CW series. According to those close to the production, however, this is not an option, given that they appear in most of the movie. Even the idea of trying to take them out digitally would be neither cost-effective nor practical at this point.

Exhibitor Relations box office analyst Jeff Brock points out in Variety,

"The thing about superheroes is... it doesn't really matter who is under the mask. You can plug and play different actors in those roles."

Brock continued to explain that even with the couple of times Miller has played the role, he is not seen as the singular iteration.

"Ezra is not Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man."

It seems as though Warner Bros. has some thinking to do - but in order to keep up with franchises the likes of Marvel, they have to be cautious with whatever they decide.
