To quote John Lydgate, "You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time".

This especially true when an already established character has their origin story changed. Such is the case with Kraven The Hunter, another Spider-Man villain spin-off the likes of Tom Hardy's Venom and Jered Leto's box office bomb Morbius.

In a recent interview with Variety, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is playing the titular Kraven, was asked about the upcoming addition to Sony's Spider-Man Universe and fans of the comic character were not pleased with his response when he described him as "one of Marvel's most iconic, notorious anti-heroes - Spider Man's number one rival."

Taylor-Johnson added that he likes that Kraven is "not an alien, or a wizard. He's just a hunter, a human with conviction. An animal lover and a protector of the natural world. He's a very, very cool character."

Now, for those who have never heard of the B-tier baddie: Kraven is, int he comics, a relentless BIG GAME HUNTER (wearing a lion pelt) who wants to make Spider-Man his next trophy. And how does Taylor-Johnson's description at all exemplify Kraven. Well, it doesn't and that's the problem. Fans were quick to hit up Twitter to call out the character gaff as illogical.

"He's literally called Kraven the HUNTER!

#Kraven is not an antihero, nor an ecologist. He is a murderer of people and animals for sport, who tortured his brother into psicopatism. Stop this nonsense.

That's not to say the changers to Kraven The Hunter won't work, but if Sony's recent track record with Spider-Man spin-off films is any indication, this could really go either way.
