Even though Johnny Depp won his defamation case against Amber Heard weeks ago, the case's effects are still being felt around the world.

A Florida courthouse was the latest place where the high-profile trial had an effect.

Judge Hunter Carroll brought up their legal battle on June 22. Nicole Schmidt and Joseph Petito, Gabby's parents, had filed a lawsuit against Christopher and Roberta Laundrie, the parents of Brian Laundrie, Gabby's fiancé who killed her last year.

Radar said that Gabby's parents say Brian's parents said through their lawyer that their daughter was still alive when they already knew that Brian had killed her.

According to the lawyer for the Laundrie family, the couple was not required by law to talk about the situation. The judge reportedly didn't like what was said and asked right away, "Aren't we responsible for the words we say at the time we say them?"

"I mean, Johnny Depp's lawyer just said something that got him found civilly liable for defamation, right?"

To sum up, Johnny Depp won his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, but she was ordered to pay over $10 million in damages, and the "Aquaman" star was also given $2 million because Depp's former lawyer called her abuse claims a "hoax."

CNN says that in the court documents, Gabby's parents said that Brian Laundrie's parents had "acted in an extreme and outrageous way" and asked for fair compensation for the harm they had caused, plus costs and other relief.

Their lawsuit also said that Chris and Roberta knew around August that their daughter had been killed. When they asked if Gabby was still alive at the time, they didn't answer.

Also, in two weeks, a decision will be made about whether or not Gabby Petito's parents can move forward with the case. The trial will happen in August 2023, after they get the signal.

Gabby Petito's family said she was missing in September 2021. She had gone on a cross-country trip with Brian Laundrie last summer.

Gabby went missing two weeks after Brian moved back alone to their home in Florida, where his parents also lived.

The police found Gabby Petito's body in Teton County, Wyoming, after looking for Brian in the Florida reserve.

Brian Laundrie's body was found in the Florida reserve area at the end of October. The medical examiner said that he took his own life. Brian wrote in a notebook that he killed Gabby Petito. The notebook was also found in the area.
