Many fans are still waiting for The CW to release their highly-anticipated "Powerpuff Girls" live-action series, but it was removed from their original 2021 slate after filming the pilot episode. Today, it appears that there is a ray of light for those who are waiting for a long time.

According to Comicbook, the show is based off the classic Cartoon Network show of the same name. The live-action series has been controversial in so many ways as it's been in the works for quite a while now.

The outlet noted that the originally-filmed pilot episode was "a little too campy" leading production to re-do almost everything from its storyline to the actual filming of the show.

Recently, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed that the show will still be released in the future under a new deal with Hanna-Barbera Studios.

In addition to the beloved children's animated show, creator Craig McCracken is also working on another classic, "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends."

In a statement, President of Cartoon Network Studios Sam Register said the collaboration between Hanna-Barbera and McCracken is something that the company couldn't pass up.

As of this writing, there is still no information about the full cast members and official release date.

In a previous interview, The CW president Mark Pedowitz said the reason why they make pilot episodes is that sometimes "things miss" and the live-action series was "just a miss."

He added that the pilot didn't work out because he might have felt that it was "a little too campy."

"It didn't feel as rooted in reality as it might've felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out. And so in this case, we felt, let's take a step back and go back to the drawing board," he added.

The show will still move forward with original cast members Dove Cameron (Bubbles) and Yana Perrault (Buttercup), however, Chloe Bennet, who was initially cast to play the role of Blossom, has left the show due to scheduling conflicts.

As of this writing, it's still unclear who would replace Bennet in the series.
