Caleb VanHooser and Christian Eubanks, players for the Indiana State University football team, heartbreakingly died following a catastrophic event.

Vigo County Sheriff's Office released a statement confirming that a fiery car crash occurred on Sunday. It reported that five people were involved in the accident, three of which were killed.

The vehicle reportedly went off the road and hit a tree on State Road 46 at Main Street in Riley, Indiana. Unfortunately, flame immediately engulfed them before the responders arrived at the scene.

The officials disclosed that the driver and two passengers were the ones who succumbed at the scene. A day later, the sheriff's office identified the two passengers as VanHooser and Eubanks.

The other victim, Jayden Musili, also passed away. He became an ISU student earlier this year and was previously enrolled in the Pathway to Blue program.

Meanwhile, the two passengers who survived the accident - Omarian Dixon and John Moore - were rushed to a medical facility due to serious injuries they sustained.

Following the tragic occurrence, ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis issued a statement to express the team and university's sadness following the tragedy.

"As we are waiting on additional details from authorities investigating this accident, our hearts go out to the families and friends of the students involved," she said, as quoted by PEOPLE.

Tribune-Star added that a vigil for the late students was held at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute.
