"Daliland" director Mary Harron speaks out on Ezra Miller's performance following the star's announcement on seeking mental health therapy.

"The Flash" star Ezra Miller, who goes by they/them pronounce, is set to star as a younger version of Salvador Dali in Harron's "Daliland" film. Recently, Miller announced their decision to "seek mental health treatment" amidst their troubling behavior and series of allegations. The actor has been arrested at least three times this year, with the latest charge for "felony robbery".

Following director Harron's recent acknowledgement of Miller's mental health recovery, the director tells Deadline that the 29 year old star was "one of the greatest actors I worked with". She further explained that they were able to wrap up "Daliland" without any issues.

"The film was completely finished and wrapped. It might have been different, especially if we were shooting, if there had been bad behavior during that. But this all happened after the film was not only filmed, but edited and mixed and done." Harron explained to Deadline. "I also felt like everybody shot all those things in good faith. Nothing bad happened during our filming, and the film is the film."

Initially, Miller was set to play James, a bigger supporting role. However, the actor had to give up the role due to scheduling conflicts. At that time, Miller was also set to star as Credence Barebones in "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore". He later on took three days to film his part in "Daliland" as the younger version of Salvador Dali.

Ezra Miller Checks Out on Good Behavior

According to the recent interview with Deadline, Harron praises Miller for their "professional" behavior on set and wished the "The Flash" star good luck on their road to mental recovery.

"They turned in a completely realized performance. They were very professional and nice to everybody. There was no trouble or a sign of trouble on set." The "Daliland" director expressed. "So it was very upsetting and terrible to read what happened later. Reading this stuff was very sad-very sad for everybody involved. Hopefully they are getting help for what sounds like a very, very serious break."

"Dalíland" is set to premiere on September 17, 2022 at the Toronto International Film Festival. Aside from Ezra Miller, the film also stars Ben Kingsley, Barbara Sukowa, Christopher Briney, Alexander Beyer, and more.
