"Deadpool" star Ryan Reynolds and actor Rob McElhenney bring humor while getting a life-saving procedure on camera after a bet.

Reynolds and McElhenney are co-chairman of the Welsh Football Club Wrexham AFC. The Marvel star explained in their Youtube video that the decision to film their colonoscopy procedures was a result of him losing a bet.

The bet in question was if McElhenney could learn Welsh. Reynolds was so confident, that he claimed that he would "publicly broadcast his colonoscopy" if McElhenney could prove him wrong, which the latter did. However, following the unfortunate loss of Reynolds, McElhenney decided to film his colonoscopy as well.

"Ryan and I both turned 45 this year and this is just a rite of passage," McElhenney explained. "and a great one because it can literally save your life. It's obviously a procedure that makes people uncomfortable but it sure beats getting cancer. We wanted to have fun with this because as with all the weird things that happen in life, why not make it fun instead of scary?"

The Aftermath of the Procedure

The video follows Reynolds and McElhenney in separate procedures, which, given their comedic touch, aimed to make the serious matter more inviting for viewers.

The doctor was able to remove a small polyp on the right side of Reynold's colon, which the doctor described as "potentially lifesaving". Meanwhile, three small polyps were removed from McElhenney's colon, to which he comedically announced that he had won over Reynolds.

Despite the constant jokes pouring in, Reynolds shared that he had filmed the procedure to share his experience with the world for awareness and end the stigma.

"I've been on camera a lot. But this was the first time one was shoved up my ass," Reynolds explained during the video. "The procedure and prep were painless but the discomfort of filming and sharing the process was the hardest part. Rob and I did it because we want this potentially lifesaving procedure to be less mysterious and stigmatized."

Reynolds and McElhenney's Mission

The comedic duo teamed up with Lead from Behind in their colonoscopy video to raise awareness of the importance of screening for colon cancer.

Lead from Behind is a nonprofit organization founded by colon cancer survivor Brooks Bell, and powered by the Colorectal Cancer Alliance. Their goal is to inspire others to save lives from colon cancers by promoting that it's "100% preventable" by getting periodic checks.
