Actress Whoopi Goldberg reacts to a body comment by a critic who claimed they felt distracted by her "fat suit".

Whoopi Goldberg is a veteran actress, comedian, and author whose Hollywood career dates back to as early as the 1980s. She has appeared in several film and television roles, and is one of the co-hosts of the ABC network talk show, "The View".

The veteran actress recently starred in a supporting role in her latest project, "Till", a biographical film about Mamie Till. Goldberg portrayed Alma Carthan, the mother of the lead character Mamie Till.

Whoopi Goldberg On 'Fat Suit' Comment

In a recent episode of "The View", co-host Goldberg addresses a recent film review from The Daily Beast, wherein the critic had written their opinion following "Till"s premiere at the New York Film Festival. According to the critic, they found that Goldberg's "fat suit" was distracting while watching the film.

Goldberg calls out the body comment and clarifies that she was not even wearing a fat suit during her role as Alma Carthan in "Till".

"There was a young lady who writes for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my fat suit, in her review," Goldberg recalled in "The View" episode. "I don't really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me.... I assume you don't watch the show, or you would know that was not a fat suit."

'The Daily Beast' Called Out For 'Blanket Statements'

Following Whoopi Goldberg's call out on the film review, The Daily Beast has since edited the comment on her alleged "fat suit". Goldberg went on to conclude her call out by suggesting that film reviews should stick with talking about the acting itself.

"We will hope that she just didn't know, and now she'll know the next time you go to talk about somebody, you talk about them as an actor," Goldberg finished. "If you're not sure if that's them in there, don't make blanket statements, because it makes you not sound like you know what you're doing."

"Till" first premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 1, 2022, and stars Danielle Deadwyler as the main protagonist, Mamie Till. The film is set to be released on October 14, 2022, nationwide.
