Coleman opened up on her experience portraying the DC character and noted that she had no idea that her character was a gender-bent version of the original John Constantine.

"One of the reasons that I wanted to do it was that the character felt so formed, and what was really thoughtful of Neil and Allan (Heinberg) is that they sent the script over to me, but they didn't tell me who the character was." Jenna remembered upon encountering her script. "So I didn't know it was Constantine when I read it. So I formed my own thoughts about who this person was without having any preconceptions of Constantine before."

Neil Gaiman Is All Hands on the Idea

Additionally, "The Sandman" author and executive producer, Neil Gaiman, expressed his approval on a "Johanna Constantine" spin-off series in an earlier interview with Variety

"And, oh my God, she's a star and you just want to see her going through battling demons and destroying other people's lives. So that's in there, too. We can keep going on this for a long time to come." Neil Gaiman shared to Variety.

Additionally, in a recent interview with The Rolling Stone, "The Sandman" showrunner Allan Heinberg shared his praise of Jenna Coleman's performance and expressed his approval to showcase more of her character in a separate series.

Despite the success of the first season of the fantasy drama Netflix series, no official announcement has been made on the second season of "The Sandman". As of the latest update, author Neil Gaiman revealed that the show is currently on a 50/50 chance depending on Netflix's decision.
