"The View" co-hosts have rallied to support Jo Koy following the backlash he received for his hosting stint at the 2024 Golden Globes and Taylor Swift's alleged reaction to his joke about her.

On Sunday night, the pop superstar looked unamused and sipped her drink after Jo Koy quipped, "The big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer camera shots of Taylor Swift. I swear."

During Monday's episode of "The View," Whoopi Goldberg, who has hosted the Oscars in the past, pointed out the challenges of such gigs and said that Sunday night's ceremony was a "rough room" for Jo Koy.

"These gigs, these hosting gigs are brutal. They're just brutal. If you don't know the room, if you've not been in these rooms before and you're thrust out there, it's hit or miss," Goldberg said after "The View" showed a clip of Swift reacting to Jo Koy's joke with a blank stare.

Sara Haines also defended Koy and slammed the reactions of the stars at the Golden Globes. She urged people to "get a sense of humor" and appreciate the role of comedians in adding humor to life.

"In that room, Jo Koy is punching up. No one feels sorry. Just smile," Haines said.

Sunny Hostin turned to resident Swiftie Alyssa Farah Griffin and asked if she thought Jo Koy's joke was "bad" enough to deserve Swift's seemingly displeased response.

Griffin admitted she was "a little surprised" but noted that she felt Jo Koy improved as the night progressed.

During his Golden Globes monologue, Jo Koy addressed the reactions of the audience to his jokes, saying, "Yo, I got the gig 10 days ago. You want a perfect monologue? Shut up! You're kidding me, right? Slow down. I wrote some of these, and they're the ones you're laughing at."

Following the awards show, Jo Koy was seemingly unfazed by Swift's reaction to his quip.

"Aww, man, it was cute. I was just saying it was cute," Koy told Entertainment Tonight, clarifying that the joke was intended as a commentary on the NFL's frequent cutaways to Swift during her boyfriend Travis Kelce's games.

In a Monday interview with KTLA, Jo Koy made it clear he has no regrets about the NFL joke and that it was not mean-spirited on his part.

"We didn't understand why they were upset, and we were just like, 'Okay, the joke was NFL,'" he explained to the news station.

During an appearance on "Good Morning America," Jo Koy admitted feeling "hurt" by the backlash to his Golden Globes hosting duties.

"Hosting is just a tough gig," the comedian said. "Yes, I'm a stand-up comic, but that hosting position, it's a different style."

However, Jo Koy said he still had "fun," describing it as "a moment that I'll always remember."
