Jon Stewart Makes Epic Return To 'The Daily Show' After 9 Years

Comedian and writer Jon Stewart is in gear to make a temporary return to his throne at Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show.'
After nine years, the late-night host is due to present on Mondays while also serving as executive producer just in time for the 2024 U.S. elections.
After seven years, Trevor Noah stepped down in 2022, explaining to The Hollywood Reporter that he wanted to try new experiences and that he should leave before getting "burned out."
"I think it's healthy for things to end when they're still in a good place," Noah, 39, said. "I want to leave before I'm burnt out because there are many other things I'd like to do."

Following Noah's departure, 'The Daily Show' had a plethora of guest hosts, including Sarah Silverman and Leslie Jones, however, the show did not secure a permanent replacement.

Stewart, 61, has been the face of the series for over a decade, starting back in 1999 before he stepped down in 2015. According to 'USA Today,' Stewart's return is scheduled for Feb. 12, airing the day after Super Bowl LVIII on CBS. He's been 'The Daily Show's' longest-standing host, presenting satirical perspectives on current events and political topics for 16 years.
Fans on Twitter, now known as X, have expressed their approval of Stewart's return. One user tweeted, "Time to celebrate," while another tweeter wrote, "This is fantastic news."
Despite the nation's considerable shift in political tone and sensitivity since his departure, senior TV editor at 'Variety' Brian Steinberg told 'Good Morning America' how "it'll be interesting to see how he [Stewart] navigates taking up his old job in a very new [political] climate."
Stewart is also well-known for his advocacy for 9/11 First Responders and U.S veterans.
He's spoken openly with Congress, sharing his disappointment in the treatment of those who have served. "It's an embarrassment for this country and it is a stain on this institution," he said. "Accountability doesn't appear to be something that occurs in this chamber."
Stewart has won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2022 and has earned 56 Emmy award nominations, raking in 24 wins.
