Sydney Sweeney is receiving flak online after addressing the backlash she received over attending an alleged "Trump-themed party" in 2022.

The "Euphoria" star brought up the controversy, along with a few other rumors about herself, during her "Saturday Night Live" monologue.

Sweeney told the audience and viewers that she hails from a town on the border of Washington and Idaho before joking about her mother's controversial 2022 birthday bash, where family members were seen sporting what appeared to be MAGA-style (Make America Great Again) hats and Blue Lives Matter T-shirts.

"When people ask, 'Where are you from?' I say Washington. But when people ask, 'Did you go to a Trump-themed party for your mom,' I say, Ida-ho!" the actress joked, as seen in a clip shared by Pop Base.

Sweeney's joke sparked backlash online, with some on X, formerly Twitter, accusing her of being a supporter of former President and current GOP presidential nomination frontrunner Donald Trump.

"[Yeah] she's a [MAGA] girl for sure," one user claimed.

"Willingly reminding the public that your family are Trump supporters during an election year is certainly...a choice!" another wrote.

"The way everyone forgot about this, and they decided to bring it back for a joke that didn't even land [loudly crying face emoji]," a third user quipped.

Another person speculated, "She's so testing the temperature trying to see if she can make her family's support (and probably hers too. Let's cut the s**t) of a candidate who was twice endorsed by the KKK socially acceptable. And I'm so bored. She can f**k off."

A fifth critic appeared to share a similar take, claiming that Sweeney's move seemed "intentional."

Sydney Sweeney arrives for the 2024 People's Choice awards at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, February 18, 2024.

In August 2022, Sweeney defended her family after photos she and her brother, Trent, posted on Instagram from their mother Lisa's country western-themed surprise 60th birthday party were interpreted as political statements.

One photo showed Sweeney posing alongside her mom, her grandmother and a man wearing a Blue Lives Matter T-shirt.

Snaps shared by Trent showed partygoers sporting red caps that some social media users believed said "Make America Great Again."

Trent later clarified that they parodied Trump's slogan and that the hats instead said "Make Sixty Great Again."

At the time, Sweeney took to X to address the situation, calling the celebration "innocent."

"You guys, this is wild. An innocent celebration for my [mom's] milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions," she wrote.

Sweeney also told British GQ later that year that she felt "nothing I say can help the conversation."

"It's been turning into a wildfire, and nothing I can say will take it back to the correct track," the actress said.

Aside from the party, Sweeney set the record straight regarding the affair rumors involving her and "Anyone But You" co-star Glen Powell during her "SNL" monologue Saturday night.

"That's obviously not true," Sweeney said, referring to the affair speculation as the "craziest rumor" she's seen about herself. "Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot. I just want to let everyone know that he's the man of my dreams, and we're still together and stronger than ever."

The actress added that her fiancé, Jonathan Davino, was in the studio to support her as she hosted the show -- before the camera showed Powell sitting in the audience.

"No, that's not my fiancé," Sweeney said. "He's in my dressing room!
