When Zac Efron showed up at the European premiere of his latest film "The Lucky One" on April 23, he was wearing a flesh colored bandage on his left hand. When reporters asked him about the injury, he smiled and replied, "A fan bit me." Whether this is true or not, it does not come as much of a surprise as female fans swoon over the former High School Musical star.

Efron arrived at the premiere with co-star Taylor Schilling, who plays his lover in the movie. "The Lucky One", is a screen adaptation a novel by Nicholas Sparks. Efron stars as US Marine Logan Thibault who returns home from duty in Iraq to find a woman whose photograph he had kept as a lucky charm during the war. He does not know this woman but had kept his picture wherever he went. Upon returning, he finds the girl Beth (Taylor Schilling) and takes a job at her family-run business where a romance develops between them.

Efron reportedly gained 18 pounds of muscle for his new movie role. He actor admitted that he did not recognize himself.

He told Men's Health magazine, "By the end of the movie I didn't recognise myself. You hear about guys like Christian Bale who dive into it and are really able to transform. I've always wondered if I had the willpower to actually do it. And I'll always have pride around the sense that I can."
