Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, who have been together for 13 years, have decided to take a break from their relationship.

"Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage," Zeta-Jones' publicist, CeCe Yorke, told EnStars through email on Thursday. "There will be no further comment."

Hollywood Couples Who Are Still Together

The couple tied the knot in November 2000 and have stood by each other's through some very difficult times. Douglas was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and the following year, Zeta-Jones checked herself into a mental health facility. In 2013, the Side Effects actress sought more treatment for her bipolar II disorder. The pair officially decided to take this break following Douglas' return from the Cannes Film Festival in May.

"[Bipolar disorder] is something I have been dealing with for a long time," she told U.K.'s Telegraph in a July report. "When you get sideswiped like that [with Douglas's illness] it's an obvious trigger for your balance to be a little bit off - not sleeping, worry, stress. It's a classic trigger."
