Kelsey Grammar will be joining the bevy of stars set to act in the third installment of The Expendables, announced Tuesday.

Grammar will be playing the role of Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission. Nicolas Cage was originally meant to play the role. Grammar will star alongside new cast members Harrison Ford and Mel Gibson. Slyvester Stallone, Arnold Shwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, and Wesley Snipes will be reprising their roles from The Expendables 2.

The former Boss star also recently nabbed the role of the main villain in Transformers: Age of Extinction. He will be portraying Harold Attinger, a counter-intelligence expert.

Statham who plays knife specialist Lee Christmas in the new Expendables film, endured a near-death experience while doing a stunt on the sets. The cast and crew were shooting the film in Bulgaria at the time and Crews explained the incident to Jay Leno when he was a guest on The Tonight Show Monday.

Statham was driving a truck where Crews and a bunch of other actors were supposed to be in the back. As the scene played out, Statham was supposed to stop the truck as the rest of the actors got out and shot the villains. The only issue was that when Statham tried to stop the truck, it wouldn't stop.

"In your mind you have an action film where you're like, 'If that happens, I'm going to grab the truck, I'm going to do all this stuff - but I was like, 'Jason! Jason!," Crews said narrating the mishap. "I'm in a heap on the ground, he's in the water, in the truck. Now we are freaking out, everybody's screaming."

"He gets out, swims to the top, and the truck is gone," Crews told Leno. "Let me tell you something, Jason Statham is a true bad, bad dude."

Before Statham started his acting career he was an Olympic-level diver for Great Britain and had once been placed 12th at the World Championships.

The Expendables 3 is scheduled to release on Aug. 15, 2014.
