Kurt Russell and John Brotherton are the most recent additions to the cast of Fast and Furious 7.

Russell had been in talks for a role which Denzel Washington was originally being considered for. No details about the nature of the role have been revealed yet. The news of Russell's coming on board was also confirmed by Vin Diesel's posting a picture from the sets which featured him, Paul Walker, and Russell, on his Facebook account.

He captioned the picture by expressing his admiration for Russell: "Kurt Russell, such an honor to work with..."

Brotherton, who has worked in films like The Conjuring, Jane By Design, and One Life to Live, has also joined the cast of the film.

Diesel has been actively interacting with fans and keeping them up-to-date about developments, via his Facebook account.

Recently, he posted a behind-the-scenes video and dished about the first day of filming on the set.

Fast and Furious 7 will take off from where Fast and Furious 6 left off. Justin Lin has announced that he will not be directing the seventh in the series. James Wan will be directing and Jason Statham will be playing the antagonist this time around. The cast for this installment includes Ian Shaw, brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans, Fast and Furious 6), Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster, and will be reprising their roles as their characters in the previous Fast and Furious films. UFC Womens Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, and ONG Bak star, Tony Jaa, will also play important roles.

In Fast and Furious 6 Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew helped in taking down Owen Shaw. It is rumored that the plot for the new film will revolve around how the Toretto and his gang combat Owen's brother, Ian Shaw (played by Jason Statham), who is hellbent on avenging his brother's death.

Fast and Furious 6, which released in May, was the highest grossing film for Universal, having made more than $750 million at the worldwide box office.

Fast and Furious 7 will hit theaters during the summer of 2014.
