Robin Thicke has written, directed, and starred in a short film, Mercy, it was revealed in a report by The Hollywood Reporter.

The film also stars Thicke's wife Paula Patton, Robert Patrick (Walk the Line, Gangster Squad), and Amandla Stenberg (The Hunger Games). Patton has acted in films like Mission Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Precious in the past. Thicke recently wrapped shooting for the film in Los Angeles earlier this year. Mercy is being produced by Mick Partridge (Jump Films). Thicke and Jordan Feldstein are executive producers on the project.

The story is based on true events and Thicke and Patton will play husband and wife in the film as well. The film revolves around Thicke's character Tom, who is a family man and limo driver. Patton plays his wife, Cynthia, who has major addiction problems.

Patrick will play the role of Randall Cross, whose wife succumbs to cancer. Randall is also wracked by the threat of losing his home. Stenberg will play Randall's daughter, who is a talented violinist and trained under her mother.

Thicke will also be co-starring in an upcoming indie film, Abby in the Summer, with Jaime Pressly.

The Blurred Lines singer's other TV credits include appearing on the Real Husbands of Hollywood, serving as an adviser on the third season The Voice and as a judge on Duets.

Thicke will go on tour to promote his latest album Blurred Lines on Feb. 24, 2014. He is also slated to give a performance at the Grammy nominations concert, which will take place on Dec. 6.
