Jennifer Lawrence almost choked to death while filming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay in Atlanta, Ga., according to a new report.

A new report by ShowbizSpy alleges that Lawrence almost choked to death from a smoke machine while on set of the latest film in the blockbuster franchise.

"It was horrifying!" a source close to production said. "Filming came to an abrupt halt when this fog machine broke and began spewing so much dense smoke during a tunnel sequence that Jennifer literally disappeared from sight - and everybody panicked!"

The scene described takes place in a long tunnel, in which Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) leads group of people. The tunnel then fills with smoke unexpectedly. However, one of the smoke machines malfunctioned, causing Lawrence and her co-stars to choke on the fumes.

"An assistant director screamed, 'Shut off the smoke machines, get those big fans running - and get Jennifer out of there!'" the source claimed.

The report claims that Lawrence was difficult to locate through all the smoke but she was ultimately rescued. The young star was hacking from the fumes, noting that she felt nauseous.

It is unknown what day this incident actually took place but Lawrence appears to be doing fine as she was photographed at a Children's Hospital in her hometown of Louisville, Ky. over the holidays.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 is scheduled for release in theaters on Nov. 21, 2014. Part 2 of Mockingjay, which is also the final film in the franchise, is scheduled for release on Nov. 20, 2015.
