It looks as though Hollywood actress Julianne Moore will be finding a brand new fan base now that she's joined one of the most popular movie franchises of all time. The 53-year-old Oscar-nominated actress says that she feels honored to play President Coin in the upcoming Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 film alongside Hollywood's youngest talents.

Moore traded in her red locks for grey ones in the film. Her character is described as someone with "gray hair that falls in an unbroken sheet to her shoulders, her eyes pale gray described by Katniss as being 'like slush that you wish would melt away.'" Moore hopes that her new role will help her connect with the younger generation both on the film set and at home.

Meanwhile, it seems as though Moore is also winning "cool" points at home with her kids for having joined the franchise. Even though she plays alongside some of the hottest names in young Hollywood such as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Moore says that her kids are still baffled at home when it comes to her fame.

"My kids just see me as Mom. They don't think of me as being cool," Moore tells People.com in a new interview.

"She can't understand that I get to meet all these people she finds interesting," Moore added. "She's like, 'What is it Mom with you and Chloe Moretz, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Jennifer Lawrence?' She's baffled by it. She doesn't understand why it's happening because I'm just Mom to her. There may have been some moments when she did think I was cool and that's pretty good!"

Directed by Francis Lawrence, Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 is set to be released in theaters nationwide on Nov. 21.
