Katie Holmes sent the world into a frenzy when she filed for divorce from her husband of almost six years, Tom Cruise. Now, TMZ is reporting that their daughter, Suri,6, is the reason the estranged couple reached a settlement so rapidly.

Just two-weeks after filing the papers, former power-couple TomKat have reached an agreement that both sides' lawyers can agree on.

According to reports, a source close to the family said that they realized what type of effect it was having on their child. After having numerous talks about how Suri would be affected permanently due to her parents' fighting, the mega-stars put a rush on reaching an agreement.

The two wanted to make the transition as easy and comfortable as possible for Suri, and the media attention wasn't helping. Suri was being used as a pawn in the couple's war and they recognized that it wasn't fair.

Originally, Katie's plans were to forcibly remove Tom of all decision-making power in his daughter's life. Tom didn't take well to the news of being stripped from his parental rights. He responded by releasing the biggest and best legal aid around to fight his former wife's request.

Usually, celebrity divorces can take months, and even years to settle. However, since both parties have made it clear that all they wanted is what's best for their daughter, clearing the dust swiftly was the best way to go.

Upon reaching an agreement, both camps released statements expressing their gratitude for being able to come to a compromise.

"The case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life," Holme's attorney Jonathan Wolfe said in a statement.

Cruise's lawyer, Bert Fields, released a statement moments later, saying: "Tom is really pleased we got there, and so am I."
