From "Taxi Driver" to "Good Fellas," to say that Robert De Niro is not one of the greatest actors of our time is a statement in which many would beg to differ. At the ripe old age of 68, we have seen him in more noteworthy films that most can remember off the top of their head.

In "Red Lights," tough guy De Niro plays Simon Silver, a blind psychic with extraordinary abilities. This Spanish American thriller also co-stars "Political Animals" regular Sigourney Weaver as Margaret Matheson and Cillian Murphy in a supporting role as Tom Buckley. Weaver and Murphy play scientists who investigate paranormal activity, which includes De Niro's character's gravity defying gifts.

The film is directed by Rodrigo Cortes, who recently did the 2010 film starring Ryan Reynolds titled "Buried."

Cortes spent a year and a half doing extensive research and penning the "Red Lights" screenplay. He focused his studies on both skeptics and believers of the psychic phenomenon. It is interesting to note that the talented director does not believe in anything claiming to exceed nature's law.

De Niro himself did his own share of brushing up on the role as he also met with psychics to prep for it. Oddly enough (no pun intended), the legend feels that there is indeed legitimacy to the phenomenon known as the supernatural.

In a promotional interview with Empire, De Niro had the following to say:

"There's no way they could have known certain things and they said them, so in that sense, I have no answer than to say that I have to believe that there's something there that they pick up psychically. I don't know what it is."

To be or not to be? That is the question. In terms of the existence of the supernatural, what is the answer? One can believe, but not sure we will ever know for certain.
