Miles Teller is going to play Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, and he also appeared in the recent film Divergent, but he also starred in smaller movie Whiplash, which debuted at Sundance earlier this year.

Will Miles Teller Play Mr. Fantastic?

There, the film found quite a bit of success, winning both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award. The movie is prepared for a wider release, and, on Wednesday, TheWrap reported that the trailer for the film has been unveiled.

Whiplash stars Teller alongside fellow comic book movie veteran J.K. Simmons, aka J. Jonah Jameson from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and tells the tale of a young drummer, played by Teller, who finds himself under the thumb of a deranged band professor played by Simmons. The trailer makes the film appear like a rather intense battle of wills between the two stars.

Miles Teller To Be 'Extra Buff' In Divergent Sequel

While the movie isn't likely to make as big of a splash as Divergent, it could be an awards contender. Whiplash will screen at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival, and then be released wide in the United States on October 10. Teller seemed like an actor primed for a breakout, if he hasn't already had one. In addition to the aforementioned Fantastic Four movie, he will be co-starring in the sequel to Divergent, and he was cast as Dan Aykroyd in the upcoming John Belushi biopic back in January, with Emile Hirsch signed up to play Belushi. Whiplash seems like a film that is primed to show people just how honed his acting chops are, and it also seems like it provides a nice, meaty role for Simmons, who has largely spent his career excelling in smaller roles in film.
