New York will be seeing a lot more of Tom Cruise, since he is shopping for a new home in the city so he can spend more time with his daughter Suri and be closer to her.

With his recent divorce to Katie Holmes after five years of marriage, and her settling in New York with their daughter, Cruise hopes to live nearby and visit Suri as often as possible, exercising his visitation rights though Holmes has primary custody of the six-year-old.

The New York Post reported a source saying that Cruise is looking for a new home and a "fresh start."

"He doesn't want to go back to the East Village apartment where he was living with Katie," the source said. The couple shared a place at the American Felt Building on East 13TH Street. In his visits to New York since his divorce with Holmes, Cruise has only stayed at hotels - even more of a reason for him to want to find a new home.

The couple had a place in Beverly Hills, where Cruise now lives with this son Connor, 17. The main focus for Cruise is finding a home that has room for Suri to play in.

"He wants to have a nice amount of space for Suri, with outdoor space. That could mean high-end luxury apartments, but he's also looking at houses outside of the city or in gated communities," the same source told the New York Post.

Holmes is trying to make New York a permanent home for herself as well, by signing a contract to star in the Broadway show "Dead Accounts" and showcasing her line, Holmes and Yang, for the first time in New York Fashion Week.
