Recent reports have surfaced that sex symbol Angelina Jolie is indeed interested in playing the role of Anastasia Steele in the movie version of the E.L. James hit sex novel "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Apparently the 37 year-old had been encouraged by several women on the set of her current flick "Maleficent" to give the mature book a read. Upon their advice, Angie allegedly went out and bought the novel herself. Sure enough, the 37 year-old supposedly could not put it down.

A source close to Daily Mirror described the A-listers newfound obsession with the sexually explicit paperback.

"Angelina kept hearing about the book while she was in the UK. All the girls on set were talking about it and how it's being made into a film," the source explained.

"Angelina went out and bought herself a copy, thinking she'd love a part in the hot topic on everyone's lips at the moment," the source continued.

"She knows the film is bound to be a huge hit," the source added.

Jolie is currently in production on the film "Maleficent, which is a story that revolves around Sleeping Beauty from a villain's perspective; the film is not scheduled for a theatrical release until March 14, 2014.
