The film adaptation of E.L. James' racy novel "Fifty Shades of Grey" continues to create buzz on a massive scale. The latest name being linked to the movie version of the erotica is "Sex and the City's" Kim Catrall.  The 56-year-old is reportedly being highly considered for the character of Elena, an older housewife that attempts to seduce S & M-crazed billionaire Christian Grey.

According to SF Gate, Catrall confirmed that she's aware of the buzz and in competition with "Kill Bill's" Uma Thurman for the part. The actress even stated that she wouldn't be opposed to once again donning the role of a saucy character.

While on "The Kyle and Jackie O Show," Catrall stated: "As far as I've heard, it's between me... I'm duking it out, unintentionally, in people's minds with Uma Thurman at the moment!  That's based on a lot of people's blogs and desires."

"As far as I know they are just writing the script so I think the casting process is a little bit further down the pipe than it is now," Catrall added.

No stranger herself to the "Fifty Shades" buzz, Catrall said that she's impressed with the mainstream popularity that James' explicit trilogy has garnered.

"It's been such a sensation, truly extraordinary. Women especially are getting it on their Kindles so nobody knows what they're reading."

Up until this point, James and her producers attached to the future flick have stayed relatively coy on the casting process.  Although screenwriter Kelly Marcel was recently hired to write the screenplay that will ultimately hit the big screen, no release date for the movie has yet been announced.

Focus Features and Universal Pictures have purchased the rights to the "Fifty Shades" feature earlier in the year.  The sexually explicit book has now sold over 20 million copies to date.
