Dakota Fanning has shown off her new brown hair a the premiere of her latest movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2.

The actress is well known for her blonde hair, but surprised fans when she stepped out at the premiere o Monday night with dark auburn hair. Fanning explained that her new hair color was not one of choice but simply for a new part she was acting in.

In Twilight, Fanning plays Jane, who is a member of the Volturi guard. The first movie of the series she appeared in was "Twilight Saga: New Moon," which was released in 2009, followed in 2011 for "Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1."

Twilight fans have been eagerly anticipating the launch of the last movie in the film series, and for the premiere the fans were out in force to see the stars.

For the premiere the actress wore a dark, forest green dress had a lace side and was accessorized with a small fabric belt. Fanning wore her new brown hair down in a far right side part with straightened tips and a small clip.

However, fans perhaps not knowing that the new look was for her new film, had mixed reactions to the actress' brown hair.

Zap2It even took a blog poll on the issue with 56 percent of fans said they "loved" the brown hair, while nearly 44 percent said she should definitely go back to being a blonde.

One fan commented: "She's gorgeous either way! I admire her because she seems like a smart and grounded young lady and she's been in Hollywood most of her life, hopefully she doesn't get cocky and full of herself and/or go downhill like many young stars her age do."

On the Yahoo blogs another wrote: "She's a beautiful, truly gifted and stellar actress, I hope she never starts messing with her body and face to try to look or be "better" because her talent alone is what will keep her on top."

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be released on Nov. 16.
